Women for Women: Campaigning, Activism and Careers that make a Difference
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Join us for our panel discussion event titled 'Women for Women: Campaigning, Activism and Careers that make a Difference'
In observance of the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we will be hosting a panel discussion event bringing together female international development and gender experts discussing the causes and implications of Violence Against Women globally and the use of activism as a tool for social change; with topics ranging from activism in the fight for sexual and reproductive rights for women; to digital and media activism and the power of storytelling in the ‘me too’ era.
SPEAKERS
We have guest speakers from Save the Children, Amnesty International, Girls Not Brides, the British Youth Council, Social Development Direct and Equal Measures 2030. You'll also have the opportunity to network and mingle with other attendees and network members.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Our panellists will provide a gendered lens on the issues women can face navigating a career in international affairs, including gaining entry into the field and overcoming social barriers which particularly effect women operating in spaces where violence against women is rampant.
Each panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session. A drinks and canape reception will be served upon arrival and the event will be followed by a networking session.
WHAT TO PREPARE
Come with a notepad and paper, and your contact details to share with your peers during the networking session. There’ll be time for Q&A so come prepared to ask your burning questions!
