Membership Terms

1. SCOPE

  1. These Membership Terms (also referred to as Terms), govern the application for WIAN Membership (also referred to as Membership) and your continued Membership status. It is your responsibility to review these Terms prior to submitting your application for a Membership. By applying for Membership you agree to be bound by these Terms. We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time, and will provide the most recent version on our website.

  2. Throughout these Terms, the terms “WIAN”, "The Network" “we”, “us” and “our” refer to The Women in International Affairs Network (WIAN) C.I.C and its associated entities, and “you” refers to the individual purchasing a Membership.


2. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS

  1. Descriptions of our different membership options, descriptions, tiers, benefits and pricing will always be stated on our Website.

  2. All applications for Membership must be made by filling out the form on our Website. Once your application has been reviewed and accepted, this will create a membership account for you.

  3. All information you provide during the application process must be accurate and complete, and it is your responsibility to keep your details up to date.

  4. We will only process completed applications, and reserve the right to reject an application for any reason.

  5. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of any password you create for accessing your account.

  6. We will send you a confirmation email on receipt of your application via our Website, and/or payment of any applicable Membership Fee, and until approved, your Membership will be deemed as 'pending'. Your Membership is deemed accepted on the day you receive the confirmation email that your application has been approved.

  7. Once your Membership is accepted by us, these Terms, Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy, and all other Legal and Corporate policies – available and amended from time to time at www.wianetwork.com/support/legal-and-corporate) – will govern your continued Membership of WIAN and use of our platform and services.


3. GENERAL TERMS

  1. By signing up and being granted WIAN Membership, you will have access to a range of content, special offers, private website forums and social media groups and other benefits (Member Content) available via the Website, LinkedIn, Facebook and through direct communications between us and You, as set out in more detail in the Membership benefits specified on our Website (and varying depending on the type of Membership you purchase). You will also be able to access general content on the Website which is subject to our Terms of Use available at www.wianetwork.com/support/legal-and-corporate.

  2. All Member Content is subject to copyright law and the Terms of Use apply equally to Member Content as to any other Content accessed on or through the Website or our social media platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Members should seek permission from WIAN or the relevant copyright holder before sharing or distributing any Member Content accessed through the Website, private social groups or any other services provided by us. In the event of failure to seek and be granted permission to share or distribute any Member Content, WIAN has the right to terminate your Membership and take further action as may be appropriate to protect any and all WIAN intellectual property rights.

  3. WIAN reserves the right to change the features, content or services related to any Membership without prior notice to you in order to improve the quality of the Membership offered to you or for any other reason, as its sole discretion.

  4. Membership is to be used by a sole individual (pursuant to the provided login credentials) and is non-transferable. Membership benefits including logins, access to content and services are linked to a specific User, and cannot be shared with other non-Users. WIAN may monitor the number of devices used to access a Membership and breach of these Terms may result in WIAN revoking your Membership. In the event of Membership being revoked due to breach of this clause, no refund shall be provided for any Membership Fees you may have already paid.


4. COPYRIGHT TERMS

  1. Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without permission. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that they own the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner.

  2. In addition, the posting party grants the WIAN and users of this site the nonexclusive right and licence to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.

4. PRIVACY

  1. Personal information provided by you during the Membership application process and throughout the duration of your Membership will be held and dealt with in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available on our Website. Without limiting our Privacy Policy, you consent to:

    1. Your name and any other optional parts of your profile provided by you (including job title, company, personal bio and image if supplied) being made accessible to other Members on our Website; and;

    2. Receiving commercial emails from us and our approved third-party providers.

  2. You may change the level of information made available on our Website and opt-out of emails by notifying us directly at communitycare@wianetwork.com.


4. MEMBERS CONDUCT

  1. WIAN provides communication tools as a service for its members. WIAN is not responsible for opinions and information posted on this site or list. WIAN does monitor but does not moderate postings on this site or list, but if any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of the WIAN, we reserve the right to take appropriate action, including, without limitation, terminating access to any user who does not abide by the community guidelines.

  2. WIAN does not take any responsibility or liability whatsoever for disputes between Members or third parties on our Website, private social groups, social media, or otherwise connected with our provision of Membership services to you.

  3. There are sections of our Website that are accessible to both registered Members and general website visitors (WIAN Site Visitors). These sections may include Member Directory listings and the ability to send direct messages to others. We will only make your Member profile data publicly available with prior written permission from you. When accessing those sections of our Website, you must not:

    1. harass, abuse or harm other Members or WIAN Site Visitors; send spam or other un-welcomed communication to other Members or WIAN Site Visitors;

    2. act in an unlawful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory or otherwise objectionable manner; or

    3. infringe the intellectual property rights of others, including those of WIAN, Members, WIAN Site Visitors or third parties.

  4. Your use of, and conduct on, our Website, private social groups, social media and other services will be otherwise subject to the Terms of Use, User Agreement and Community Guidelines, available at www.wianetwork.com/support/legal-and-corporate.

  5. We may revoke your Membership for any reason, including for breach of these Terms, the Terms of Use, the Community Guidelines, or for bringing WIAN into disrepute.


5. THIRD PARTY CONTENT AND SERVICES

  1. Services and marketing material may be offered to Members including events, promotional offers and general advertising by our partners and advertisers.

  2. These services may have additional terms that apply as set by the applicable third party, and WIAN claims no responsibility or liability over the content, accuracy or availability of these Services. Should you have any issue with third party content or services, please contact the third party directly.


5. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

  1. WIAN provides communication tools as a service for its members. WIAN is not responsible for opinions and information posted on this site or list. WIAN does monitor but does not moderate postings on this site or list, but if any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of the WIAN, we reserve the right to take appropriate action, including, without limitation, terminating access to any user who does not abide by the community guidelines.

  2. To the extent permitted by law, WIAN:

    1. disclaims all implied warranties and representations (e.g. warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of data, and non-infringement);

    2. does not guarantee that the communications tools will function without interruption or errors, and;

    3. provide the communication tools (including content and information) on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

    4. exclude all conditions and warranties relating to your Membership.

      Where our liability cannot be excluded, such as in relation to Consumer Guarantees under the UK Consumer Law or other prescribed terms under legislation, our liability for breach is limited to the Membership Fees paid by you.

  3. To the extent permitted under law (and unless WIAN has entered into a separate written agreement that overrides this contract), WIAN shall not be liable to individuals or entities for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunities, reputation, profits, or revenues, related to the communications tools (e.g., offensive or defamatory statements, downtime or loss, use of, or changes to, your information or content).

  4. In no event shall the liability of WIAN exceed, in the aggregate for all claims, £100 (GBP). This limitation of liability is part of the basis of the bargain between you, the user, and WIAN, and shall apply to all claims of liability (e.g., warranty, tort, negligence, contract, law) and even if WIAN has been told of the possibility of any such damage, and even if these remedies fail their essential purpose.
