Behind the Scenes

The WIAN team is a collective of like-minded women who understand how difficult it is for recent graduates to find permanent, paid roles within the international sector, and how lack of opportunity, information and mentorship continues well on into a woman's career.

Operations

The Operations team is responsible for the overall management of WIAN’s day-to-day activities and internal processes, people management, HR and recruitment and ensuring that each team runs efficiently behind the scenes.

The Communications team is responsible for WIAN’s original content and branding, managing our contributor programme and social media following, and the organisation’s wider PR and marketing strategy.

Programmes

The Programmes team design and deliver our various programmes, mainly the annual mentorship scheme, and are responsible for effective monitoring and evaluation and communicating our impact.

The Partnerships team is responsible for our external engagements and building relationships with partners and sponsors. They also manage our unique university partnerships, working closely with academic and research partners.

I'm the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, responsible for all things WIAN! I'm super passionate about women, Africa, economic development and sustainability. My background is in law, diplomacy and human rights, with a LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights from the University of Warwick.

Demiladé Falola-Apooyin

I'm the Chief Operating Officer, leading on HR, business development and managing our internal operations. My background is in Research and Development, international programmes and innovation, and I have an MSc in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics.

I'm responsible for identifying partnership, sponsorship and funding opportunities, and managing our external relationships. My background is in human rights, fundraising and grant-writing, and I have a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics.

Valentina Aslani

 CONTENT EDITOR 

I write and edit WIAN's original content, pitching articles, interviews and other pieces to be published on our site. I studied my undergraduate degree in Architecture, and I'm passionate about creative writing, sustainable development, design and construction.

Segilola Apooyin

 PROGRAMME MANAGER 

I'm responsible for design, implementation and management of WIAN's annual mentorship scheme. I'm a born feminist and passionate about social justice and protecting women and girls. I'm an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and hold a law degree from the University of London.
