  • This Sr Analyst, Security Risk is a member of the Security Risk Team within the Corporate Affairs Division.

  • Responsible for supporting the safety and security of employees, corporate assets, and worldwide daily operations by using their knowledge, training, experience, and a variety of information sources to determine the impact of global developments at locations where American Airlines operates or has interests. Also responsible for supporting the Manager, Geopolitical Risk in the communication of assessments to internal and external stakeholders through regular written products, presentations, and in-person briefings.


What you'll do

  • Provides onsite Geopolitical Risk assessment and incident response capability in IOC through the work of alternating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Provides a rotating on call escalation capability for security incidents when no in-person IOC coverage is on hand

  • Develops and supports briefing products for AA's travel security program

  • Oversees maintenance of AA's emergency notification platform in partnership with Emergency Planning and Response department

  • Conducts ad hoc security briefings in support of worldwide operations

  • Performs Hotel Security and crew layover assessments on an as needed basis

  • Performs major Events assessments of Worldwide Sporting Events, Notable Political Elections, Regional conflicts and civil unrest, Station start-up security assessments, Executive travel assessments

  • Monitor, analyze, and forecast geopolitical trends, regional instability, and international developments that may impact American’s global operations

  • Provide rapid-response analysis in crisis situations, including conflict escalation, sanctions, coups, and security threats impacting flight operations

  • Advise route planning, and operations teams on optimal strategies to mitigate geopolitical and security risks

  • Maintain and update risk models and aviation-specific threats, including in restricted airspace and conflict zones

  • Contribute to scenario planning, tabletop exercises, and business continuity workshops

  • Collaborate with vendors, intelligence providers, government bodies, international aviation regulators (e.g., ICAO, EASA, FAA), and internal departments to ensure accurate situational awareness

  • Produce in-depth reports, briefings, and risk assessments with actionable insights for internal stakeholders

  • Present findings and brief senior leadership, often under tight deadlines


All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Intelligence Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in geopolitical risk analysis, ideally with a focus on aviation, defense, or global security.


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Previous DOD/USG intelligence, State Department analyst and/or counter terrorism training

  • Experience in Department of Defense, State Department or Other US Government Agency Intelligent Analyst role

  • Foreign language skills relevant to AA operational footprint

  • Familiarity with NOTAMs, SFARs and international airspace restrictions

  • Fluency in Spanish


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of risk analytic methodologies

  • Knowledge of airline operations

  • Possess or be able to obtain Ground Security Coordinator qualification

  • Possess or be able to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance

  • Ability to travel worldwide

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and occasional irregular schedules as dictated by emerging threats, or in response to current incidents or assignments
