Want to put your faith into action and call for climate justice?
Between the G7 and COP26 UN climate talks you’ll build power for change in your local churches and communities as together we pursue climate justice.
What will Climate Campaign Organisers get up to?
Over 6 months you’ll receive training and support to carry out a Climate Justice Action Plan to get your local church or community standing in solidarity with people living the realities of the climate crisis and campaigning for change. Together you’ll grow and develop your agency and leadership in making change happen.
An introduction to climate justice and faith in activism
Training in community organising and campaign principles and tools
One to one support as you plan and carry out your action plan
Campaign materials and resources
Participating in the life of the Climate Campaign Organiser community
Building relationships with people in your church and community
Creating your own Climate Justice Campaign Action Plan

What you’ll gain:
Experience with a recognised international development N.G.O. with a strong campaigning reputation.
We’ll help develop your understanding and skills through online training and one to one support with a staff member allocated to you. We’ll teach you foundational community organising tools such as ‘one to one conversations’ and ‘power mapping’ as well as how to run great local campaign actions with your church and wider community
You’ll develop your agency and leadership in making change happen
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
You’ll share Christian Aid’s values and want to stand with those living in poverty around the world. You’ll be passionate about getting others involved, taking action and building the power for change. We welcome applications from people who are attached to a church or have strong links into their local community or university (for students).
Campaign Organisers are self-motivated but spend lots of time working with other people, building relationships and getting others involved so it’s vital you enjoy working with others.
We’re all about collaboration, so we’re open to more than one person applying from the same area or church.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to network and be comfortable speaking with others
An interest in climate change and campaigning for justice
The ability to motivate and enable others to participate
Access to a computer and the internet, with ability to participate in zoom calls, and basic IT skills
The Climate Cohort will run from Mid-June 2021 to December and you will need to be able to commit to this period of time. This will include:
Online introductory and training sessions - mid June and September (timing TBC)
121 Meet ups with one of the Christian Aid Campaigns and Activism Team
Completing your Climate Justice Campaign Action Plan
Participation in the life of the cohort (hosted on the Collective online platform)
End of cohort gathering and celebration!
Building power and change takes time – that’s why we’re inviting you to spend 6 months with us to invest in the movement for climate justice.
You’ll be creating your own Climate Justice Campaign Action Plan to help focus your campaigning. How much time you give to achieving your plan will vary depending on what you’re aiming to achieve in your church and community and what fits with other commitments you have.
